Drink in the Greek Mythology with this new Rabcat slot known as The Legend of Olympus.
Based in Vienna and founded in 2001, Rabcat Gaming might not be one of the leading online casino software providers, but this company has definitely created several games that attained an iconic status among critics, as well as players.
The Legend of Olympus is a slot game based on Greek mythology, which, it has to be said, is one of the more common slot themes. However, that doesn’t mean that this game is not unique or original in its gameplay, features and style. It is clear that a lot of effort was put into this game.
The graphics of the game is clearly in accordance with the theme. The background resembles a traditional Ancient Greek temple with the recognisable columns. You can see Zeus on the left and weird looking creature on the right. The graphics and animations are pretty decent, considering that the game was released in the spring of 2013 and online slot development has come a long way since then.
The sound effects are rather subtle and also a bit quirky, but the game itself has such an element so everything really matches here. In the terms of options, you can adjust your betting by choosing how many paylines you wish to bet on and what amount you’re willing to wager on each. The buttons are placed on elements which fit the layout and the architecture and everything looks rather organic and natural.
The game has 5 reels, 3 rows and 20 paylines, a rather standard setting. You can choose how much you wish to wager and you can choose how many paylines you’d like to activate. If you activate all of them and wager just a penny on each you can play the game for just 20p. The maximum wager is £40, which is £2 per payline, a lot less than what you can wager on other slot games. The maximum prize is 1,000 coins.
There is a ‘max bet’ button that allows you to wager the full amount without having to manually adjust your stake, but there’s no ‘autoplay’ button. After a winnings spin, you can activate one very interesting feature, called ‘gamble’. If you activate the gamble feature, you will get to wager the amount that you have won again, and thus you have a chance of doubling your win. You will get to guess whether the next card from a deck is going to be red or black. If you win you can have another go and double the doubled prize, if you lose you go back to the main game.
There are no dull card symbols here, instead all of them are in accordance with the theme. There are four common objects, which are symbols of lower value – a dagger, a cup, a helmet and a shield, and then there are four Greek gods, a scatter, a wild and a bonus symbols. Here you get a reward even for two low value symbols, but you don’t get an award for 2 god symbols, which are of higher value.
If you wager the maximum amount, then you will win £4, or 10 times less than your total stake for a combination of 2 daggers or cups across a payline, but with 2 helmets or shields you will win £8 and £10 respectively. With a 3-symbol combination the payout amounts grow significantly. For 3 Poseidon symbols you will get a prize worth 10 times your stake, for 4 Poseidon symbols you will get a reward worth 100 times your stake, whereas the biggest prize is awarded for 5 Poseidon symbols and it’s worth 1,000 times your original wager.
The other high value symbols pay a lot of money as well, especially for winning combinations consisted of 4 or five symbols. Zeus, Aphrodite and Ares pay £100, £200 and £400 for a combination of 4 symbols with a maximum wager, whereas the payouts for 5 symbol combos are £500, £1,000 and £2,000 respectively.
The RTP percentage in Legend of Olympus is 95.47% and it has to be said that the figure is not quite impressive as there are many other similar slots with RTP percentage that exceeds 96% or even 97%. The game is a low variance game, which means you can expect a lot of prizes, albeit small. If you’re willing to take risks you can always try the gamble option after a win and perhaps double your prize.
The wild symbol can substitute all other symbols except for the bonus symbols. It can complete a winning combination and if a combination is formed only out of wild symbols the payout is the same as if the combination was of Poseidon symbols. There’s also a free spins symbol which acts as a scatter and a combination of three such symbols activates the Free Spins bonus. Moreover, there’s another bonus scatter symbol and a combo of three such symbols activates the Secret Bonus feature.
If you hit 3 free spin symbols then Zeus will appear, starting to throw lightings around and that process determines the number of free spins that you are going to receive. The next bonus is activated by the golden coin bonus symbol which features the face of Zeus and you’ll need at least 3 symbols for activation. This bonus game is called River Styx. Here you get a range of gold coins and you need to pick particular ones in order to receive cash prizes. If you get two winning coins you will be taken to the next level where there are chests filled with treasure that will give you even greater prizes.
Legend of Olympus is a standard mythology themed game, so if you fancy Greek mythology then you’ll surely like it. The features are innovative, especially the gamble option and the 3D animations are quite good too. The only downside is the somewhat low RTP percentage that is below 95.50%.
